Rattlesnake Ledge Jan 2009 -- Inversion

Seattle was trapped by low fog from an inversion layer. It was 20 degrees warmer and much sunnier in the mountains, so we abanonded Seattle for the hills.

  • Another higher viewpoint.  We considered hiking up there, but decided to go to Cougar Mountain instead to get a closer look at the inversion.
  • The inversion from Cougar Mountain.  That is Bellevue and Issaquah trapped under the clouds.

  • More clouds down low, sun up high.
  • You can see the clouds hanging lower in the valley on the left side.  It was foggy and cold in Seattle, warm and sunny in the mountains (even the foothills)
