Can my 3/8" Ridgid tube bender make bends in 5/16" steel tubing if I use vinyl tubing to enlarge the steel tubing?

The steel tubing is sliding through the mandrel instead of having the rollers roll against the vinyl tubing.  I think that this is a result of not using tight fitting vinyl tubing.

The steel tubing is sliding through the mandrel instead of having the rollers roll against the vinyl tubing. I think that this is a result of not using tight fitting vinyl tubing.

  • A good bend.  That is 5/16" 4130 tubing and I used a 3/8" bender.
  • Lining up for a second bend.  Note that the vinyl tubing isn't the right size, I think that this technique might work better with the right tubing.
  • The steel tubing is sliding through the mandrel instead of having the rollers roll against the vinyl tubing.  I think that this is a result of not using tight fitting vinyl tubing.
