Wetmorian #2, Commuter

Disk brake porteur, using all of the components from a Novara Fusion commuter bike (so Alfine hubs). 8/5/8 oversized downtube, 7/5/7 oversized top tube, both are True Temper OX Golf, 1-1/8" headtube, Pacenti slant six lugs and matching bottom bracket. This is my first lugged frame.

It'll have Paragon Rocker dropouts to work well with the Alfine drivetrain.

Weird wavy pattern left by my Park facing tool. THe wave interval matches the tool interval on the facing tool.<br />

Mark B suggested that this was from having a tensioning spring. I redid the cut using a more rigid setup (no spring) on my lathe and now I have a flat and true headtube. Thanks Mark.

  • Fluxed and ready to go. The jig worked well, I had pretty good access. This is my first lugged (and pinned) frame.
  • Bottom bracket assembly. This is the first joint that I brazed.
  • Head tube assembly before flux removal.
  • Seat cluster. This was the last joint that I brazed, but probably the one that I had the most trouble with.
  • Other side of the BB.
  • Other side of the seat cluster. I was dumping a lot of head into the binder to keep it from drawing heat away from the lug.
  • No cleanup work except for soaking and removing the extension above the lug. I feel pretty good about that.
  • HT/DT lug. No cleanup beyond flux removal and cutting off the extension.
  • HT/TT.
